Vision
To establish AVEA as the premier platform for recognising and advancing valuation excellence in Africa, the Awards strives to foster innovation, uphold ethical standards, and provide professional development opportunities throughout the continent’s valuation industry.
The Awards are intended to establish benchmarks for quality, integrity, and sustainability in valuation practices, thereby cultivating a collaborative and thriving community of valuation professionals dedicated to Africa’s socio-economic advancement.
Key Objectives for the Awards
1. Promote Professional Standards and Ethics
To highlight and reward adherence to the highest professional standards, ethical practices, and regulatory compliance within the valuation industry, ensuring transparency and integrity across the sector.
2. Encourage Innovation and Best Practices
To recognize and encourage innovative approaches, tools, and methodologies that improve the efficiency, accuracy, and impact of valuation services in Africa.
3. Foster Industry Growth and Development
To motivate continuous learning, professional development, and capacity-building among valuation professionals, thereby elevating the skills and expertise available across the continent.
4. Highlight Contributions to Socio-Economic Development
To recognize the pivotal role valuation plays in promoting sustainable development, economic growth, and social impact, particularly in the context of Africa’s unique challenges and opportunities.
Awards Categories
1. Valuation Private Firm of the Year
Recognizes a private organization that has demonstrated highest support for valuation related activities, collaboration with others and participation across multiple sectors in Africa.
2. Rising Star in the Valuation Profession
Celebrates an up-and-coming professional aged 35 years or below, who has
shown exceptional promise and innovation within the valuation industry.
3. Smart Technology in Valuation
Recognizes the use of innovative tools, advanced methodologies, and/or AI
technologies that have significantly improved valuation practices.
4. Leading Woman in the Valuation Profession
Honours a woman that has shown excellence in leadership, upholds highest
standards of integrity and contributes to the advancement of the profession.
5. Most Progressive Valuation Authority
Honours a regulatory authority that has implemented progressive project/s to advance the valuation profession and programmes for promoting public integrity and the image of valuers.
6. Candidacy/Internship Programme in Valuation
Recognizes an organization that has successfully implemented a candidacy or internship programme which has demonstrable results or impact.
7. Excellence in Public Sector Valuation
Awarded to a government entity or state organization that has advanced excellence in valuation services within or for government institutions.
8. Valuation Team of the Year Award
Celebrates a valuation team that has visibly supported and contributed to promoting valuation profession and collaboration with others organizations in the advancement of valuation work.
9. Excellence in Valuation Education and Training
Honours high education institutions, training and CPD providers contributing
to advancing education, training, and capacity-building in the profession.
10. Social Media Personality Promoting Valuation
The Award honours an individual on social media that has contributed to the
overall exposure of the valuation profession and valuation practices.
11. Public Media Promoting Valuation
Honours a publication or media house that has contributed the most to the
overall exposure of the valuation profession and valuation practices.
12. Voluntary Association of the Year
Recognizes a voluntary association or any membership organization that has
contributed to the development of valuers, advancement of the valuation
profession and collaboration with others to promote the integrity and image
of the profession.
13. Research and Innovation in Valuation
Recognizes an organization or an individual who has contributed the most to
the body of knowledge in the valuation field/ practice with published
research, feature articles or public media presence.
14. Valuation for Social Impact (CSI)
Recognizes an private or public organization that has implemented project/s
or practices that has contributed to community social investment activities.
15. Lifetime Achievement in Valuation
Recognizes a distinguished professional for their long-standing contributions
and leadership within the valuation profession.
16. Chairperson Award - Country of the Year
Celebrates a country – that has the highest aggregate number of delegates
and participants at the Africa Valuation Conference, outside of South Africa
Rules for the Awards
1. Eligibility:
- Open to valuation professionals, real estate firms, valuation companies and public institutions operating anywhere in Africa.
- Only work completed within the 12 months leading up to the awards is eligible for submission – that is 1st May 2025 to 31st October 2025.
2. Nomination Process:
- Nominations can be submitted by an individual, company, public institutions, voluntary association and/or professional body.
- Self-nominations are permitted.
- All nominations must be accompanied by supporting motivation, where applicable include project details, client testimonials, and evidence of impact.
Submission:
- Submissions should be completed via the official awards portal.
- Each submission must include a completed entry form, selection of the
nomination category, where applicable, description of the project/achievement,
and any relevant supporting materials (reports, presentations, etc.). - Nominations are limited to 3 categories per person, individual or organization.
4. Judging Panel:
- A panel specifically set up for adjudicating on the nomination has been setup.
- Judges remain impartial and scoring of any submission is confidential.
- Judges’ decisions are final.
5. Scoring Guidelines:
- Strength of Motivation
- Impact on the valuation industry
- Technical criteria and excellence
- Industry participation (added advantage)
- Ethical practices and compliance with professional standards
- Plus specific category criteria requirements
6. Confidentiality:
All submissions will be treated as confidential. Judges and organizers sign nondisclosure agreements (NDAs) to ensure the protection of sensitive information.
7. Disqualification:
- Any false information provided in the nomination will result in immediate
disqualification. - Late submissions will not be considered.
8. Award Presentation:
- Winners will be announced at the official awards dinner ceremony.
- Nominees are expected to be in attendance to receive the award in person and a brief acceptance speech is encouraged from the Winners in each category to share insights on their winning.
9. Categories:
Each category will have a winner and “highly commended” nominees,
depending on the number and quality of submissions.
10. Entry Fees:
There will be no entry fee for submission of nominations. The nominated
organizations, institutions and individuals are expected to attend the Awards
ceremony to received their awards in person.
Dispute Resolution:
- In the event of disputes regarding eligibility or outcomes, the organizers
reserve the right to consult with an independent third-party auditor. - All decisions made by the auditor and the judging panel will be final.
